In Kyrgyzstan, part of the Russian territory of Turkestan, Germans settled themselves at the end of the 19th century. The first German settlements were founded by about 100 German Mennonite families at the beginning of the 1880s. The exhibition depicts the life of German settlers. They are looking for the settlers on theaters, schools, sciences and the culture of the country, as the agricultural developments and the later secrets.

The exhibition, initiated by the Kyrgyz Embassy and the former President of Kyrgyzstan, Rosa Otunbayeva, was in Berlin before she went to the museum in Detmold. The special exhibition was and was sponsored. From the German Embassy in Bishkek and the Ministry of the Interior.
